GNLP helps to co-ordinate citywide regeneration activity on a local level by working with the Local Learning Partnerships.
So far, GNLP has helped to establish an area learning infrastructure by appointing
Area Learning Facilitators in the Neighbourhood Renewal Areas of Nottingham. In 2001 we helped the partnerships to produce their first Local Learning Plans. To ensure consistency and quality GNLP devised a toolkit which enabled more robust
Learning Plans to be produced in 2004. Of the 9 areas across the city, GNLP currently supports 6 of the most deprived with the implementation of their Local Learning Plans. The plans have provided a strong basis for delivering community-based learning and skills-based regeneration activities in these areas.
GNLP has recently produced a themed report from the 2004 Local Learning Plans to indicate the breadth of issues which need to be addressed in delivering and continuing to develop learning activity in each area. A current priority is to work closely with Area Learning Facilitators to identify next steps and a sustainable way forward. One of the crucial ways in which Area Learning can continue to develop is by aligning activity to the strategic direction of the
Greater Nottingham Skills Board and to projects such as
Making the Connection.
